Saw the ED and went back to check the specific chapter, and yeah safe to assume that they'd end this season somewhere around the 77-80 chapter mark going with the current pace, and the remaining 12 episodes(including this one). So, things do make sense now why they had to go all the way and make the entire ending over Hina alone.. sheesh!

Really btw, if anything, she's that one character who actually does something in this series, does that one thing which our main guy and Chinatsu can't… SHE CAN SAY WHAT'S IN HER HEAD. She confessed(!) and yeah people would cheer on her after this episode but remember…

… this guy has no feelings, at all, for her. I mean even during their conversation, he was thinking about Chinatsu’s match.. lol, is a different thing tho Chinatsu suffered as well here, but anyway, author could've tried back then or the adaptation might have tried to make it less obvious “one-sided love”, but yeah, it is what it is.

Hina-Chan confesses her mind all out but to think our taiki is occupied with Chinatsu-San, it makes the story line so depressing.
Is moving on an option here?

. Their interaction is indeed touching, with
.
, which is a good step for the growth of their relationship.

I would give it an 8/10 – it wasn’t the best of the series, but it did a good job advancing the plot and revealing more about the characters.

man what an ep, it's not often I watch a show where the race for bestgirl is this close. Hina has really been carrying for a solid few eps at this point, and you gotta respect how frank she is when talking to Taiki in this ep, both during and after the confession. banger

Very different topic but the the start of the ost that plays after hina confesses and runs away sounds like the start of a your lie in April ost called “otouto mitai na sonzai”. It plays during ep 3 at 13:49 when tsubaki and kaori r talking in the bus if u want to know the scene. I hope someone even cares bout that.

What a great episode! Hina confesses her love for Taiki is just beautiful 💗. On the other hand, Chinatsu missing the game winner is heartbreaking 💔

As a manga reader, they animated it so beautifully, the confession, the basketball game, the way they made the transition between Hina confession and Chinatsu shoot for the game winner is just top tier 👌🏻

Still, I'm not ready if they will animate the Chapter 76 and 77 in Season 1 💔💔💔

I dont think its far fetched to assume here that both our girls were planning to confess to Taiki after their matches, unfortunately for Chinatsu .. her team has lost, and seeing as her world crumbles after the fact was a hard watch.

This was a really good episode, and i'm surprised how well paced this anime still is after thirteen episodes.

HOLY FUCK THEY TOOK A WEEK OFF JUST TO COME BACK WITH THIS EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER. I did not expect Hina to confess so soon oh my goodness I’m so proud of and happy for her. It fucking hurts knowing that rejection is inevitable though. They turned the drama and emotional tension up to 1000 in this. How you gonna have Hina confess and Chinatsu lose her game/miss a game winner in the same ep 😩

Hina’s situation is just so unfortunate because it’s a collection of what-ifs. Like if Chinatsu makes that shot and is not depressed, Hina might’ve been in with a shout for Taiki. Now there’s no way he’s gonna be able to focus on her confession or romance with anyone else after Chinatsu’s inevitable depression arc.

I like the symbolism of the missed last second game winner shot as well. Coincided with Hina’s confession and Chinatsu’s miss is basically analogous for Hina’s rejection that we know will happen. It’s like a “missed opportunity” summed up in animation form. Also, the shot of the promise band being broken was nice symbolism.

But that wasn’t enough drama, they had to end off with Chinatsu overhearing Hina saying she’s in love with Taiki FUCKKK. If her mental state wasn’t messed up enough already, it’s gonna be worse. This tension is enough to kill a person lol can’t wait for next ep. I love the Hina visuals in the Ed!!

Good episode and I think the staff for this one did a solid job in conveying the emotions this one had to offer well, especially with the parallels of Hina's confession scene and clarity of feelings (leaving no ambiguity behind) with Chinatsu's pain and disappointment after losing and even dealing with the aftermath of knowing of Hina's feelings for Taiki. Nice for Hina to gather up the courage to confess to Taiki in a fairly normal and random time, knowing that to get him to pay attention to her as a girl in love than being eternally friendzoned as she was previously. Even nicer seeing how Taiki was realizing bit by bit how his interactions with Hina were with knowing the full context of her feelings now beyond his denseness, and how these feelings as well as Chinatsu's loss and his current feelings for her is leaving him confused and in knots.

idk if im schizoing or maybe it's a coincidence but I think that Chinatsu is wearing an extremely similar shirt to the one that Chihiro had in Spirited Away, maybe it's an omage or sum
Considering they both have the kanji 千 "thousand" it could make sense, idk.

(also yeah, goated episode icl)

This is Hina's episode and Chinatsu acts more like the losing heroine today, and she knows Hina confessed.

The juxtoposition of the confession and the game is so painful. We don't see them really winning the game.

Of course Chinatsu lose the game and found out about the confession... maybe they tried to make us feel bad for her? Since most of us seemed to like Hina more, myself included.
Not to say I don't like Chinatsu, it just I like more straightforward type of girl I guess lol

That’s a tough situation for Taiki!
Chii saw him with Hina and now she must believe that they are together, but it’s not true. I wonder if Hina was serious when she said she likes Taiki.

I think he should confess his feelings to Chii as soon as possible.

I can't believe this but Chono has grown on me. Hina's VA really brought her to life compared to the manga.

The shifts between the basketball match and the shoe game was masterful, especially the shot of the broken ankle ribbon even if what it represents is agonizing to think about.

It really isn't gonna be Chinatsu's day for a while is it? The raw pain behind those eyes at the end is too much, man.

Hina deserves him way more than Chinatsu imo. Like Chinatsu said that she was not open to be with someone because she prioritizes her basketball career while Hina was brave enough to confess and is open to a relationship. I think Taiki should go on dates with Hina to figure out if he loves her and move on from Chinatsu.

Just like with Haryu's defeat against the eventual winner of the badminton inter high competition, Hyodo, in the previous episode, seeing Chinatsu's shot rebound off the hoop with barely a second remaining when her team was one point behind felt VERY crushing. Such is the nature of competitive sports where what-ifs get thrown around a lot, but the end result is that one side will win and be happy and the losing side will be upset about. In this case, I felt saddened when Chinatsu couldn't stop herself from crying afterwards. =(

If that wasn't enough for her, she ended up appearing at the right time to hear that Hina has already declared her feelings for Taiki. Speaking of Hina, I'm really happy that she outright confessed to Taiki at the park so easily like that. I know not everyone in her position can say it as easily like that, but I do respect her for getting straight to the point. She knows that Taiki likes Chinatsu, but it's all the more reason for her to make her move now rather than miss out altogether.

Not to forget, I'm happy for her after she got 3rd place in her rhythmic gymnastic inter high competition. You can tell that she's not fully satisfied with the result and wants to outright win it, so I do wish her the best of luck with that goal in mind. =)

Overall, this was a great episode. With Hina making her bold move, I can see things becoming more chaotic and fun with the main trio as the series goes on. I look forward to seeing how things will play out in the game of love.

Great episode excluding the last scene. Once again she overhears something and it completely misinterprets it out of context leading to another misunderstanding... is this the so called peak? It's good but definitely overhyped
