A lot of people starting don't understand anchoring, only having to lift certain fingers to change chords. They think you have to lift all yout fretting fingers to form the next chord.Once they get that it makes it much easier.
Hey James, the fact that you can switch chords as quickly as you do and you've only been playing for a couple of weeks is extraordinary! You are progressing extremely fast for someone who just picked up the instrument. Keep going, brother!
Keep doing what you're doing. You are heaedin the right direction. A year from now you'll look back on this video and you will be amazed at how far you come.
A lot of beginner guitarists don't even bother trying to write music with what they know, and those are the ones who tend to give up after a couple months. You're going to be a good player in a couple of years. Keep it up!
Hey man just wanted to say great job and I really love the song and the chord changes!!! I know you’re just starting out but you are really doing a great job and actually I played the riff and I feel like this could definitely be turned into a really cool tune. Let me know if you’re interested in me turning this into a more polished version for you. Great job!
hey dude just an advice for someone who was in your place... it took me 2 years of learning guitar to realize the best way to learn isn't to "learn" the instrument, play your fav songs or to make music with it... if you set these as your goals then your potential will be hindered.. instead try to explore the instrument and the sound it makes.. playing for the love of it.. not for some outcome that isn't there with you yet.. best of luck with your journey
There's an old saying.........It's not how good you play, it's how good you feel! If it sounds good to you, go for it! As long as you're having fun, you only have to please yourself! Good job buddy!
If you’re having fun, you’re winning :) PS I was like six or seven years into playing guitar before I ever had a concept of what a bridge was so good job already having that on your mind! It all sounded great :))
I’ve been teaching for 15 years, your chord changes are excellent, brilliant progress already. Really like the chords you’ve picked too. Great stuff! Look forward to checking in on your journey, you’ve made an awesome start!
Hey good stuff man! May I recommend some upstrokes to make your progression sound more alive? Do the exact same thing but whenever it is comfortable, hit the strings on the way up. You’re doing great!
Keep going, James! Nice bridge. I’m looking forward to seeing the next song. You are progressing quickly, I can tell. It’s a great idea to document the progress. I write songs too. Subbed. Glad I found this video.
Your changes are really good for a beginner! I couldn't play like that until at least a month, let alone come up with a song. Keep it up, you'll do great.
Keep strumming, Brother. Love that Les Paul Studio. Mine is a 2013 in Vintage Sunburst. I can hear lyrics for your chord progression. Every song is as unique as a fingerprint, yours to build on and share forever, from the day you thought it into existence.
This is awesome!! Great job! Took me a lot longer than you to get good at having all the strings ring out well on chords so you're ahead of where I was when I started!!
playing for just 2 weeks, thats a great start. ur already almost fluent with some of the chord changes and with only one lesson thats quite impressive. nice work!
Your absolutely killing it, your strumming hand will feel more natural as you go on. It reminds me of me when I first started strumming, very up and down. Today my strumming is a lot more rhythic. But man keep it up, imagine your self playing your favorite song and continue to be exited everyday. Maybe you could add some quick up strokes in between downstrokes or something. Hopefully this is helpful
Cool riff brother once you anchor that rhythm properly you'll be able to let it soar - nothing better than connecting with ones instrument regardless of what the world at large thinks of what you're doing. Keep at it - peace.
No guitarist will make fun of you because we all been there. Playing guitar is on a personal level and everyone has a different level they play at. Keep practicing and you will get better each day.
Your amazing man this is really nice. Even if you’re a beginner guitar player doesn’t matter a song writer can be amazing you don’t gotta be the best guitarist or poet. A songs a song and this is totally original and great keep it up!
Sick start! Can't wait to see that picking hand get more and more loose and comfortable if you keep uploading - you are so stiff and nervous! That will go away in time your whole body will be one with the strings
@WeWhoSurvived thanks for your encouragement! Yeah, I was nervous. I've been playing more since I've made this video and I think I'm less stiff and nervous. My buddy who is teaching me will teach me picking eventually. He's pretty cool. He had a band for a while called Against The World. They're here on RUclips. They even made a music video for their song 27 Club
@athertonpowellstudios hey you will get negative comments from time to time because some people just have to be nasty, but don't let it bother you. Just keep doing what makes you happy & ignore the mean people.
@@athertonpowellstudios GO FOR IT!! Just understand that you need to be watching instructional RUclips videos 4-6 hours a day while playing along with the lessons. It takes an enormous amount of dedication to be really good at something. Learn these 3 chords G, C & D & play them until your fingers hurt (also work pick holding)
I said don't make fun of me. I've been playing since the first of this month. I'm not going to quit just because I'm not perfect after 1 lesson and 14 days of playing
Brother, I do a lot of teaching and most people take FOREVER to switch between chords in time. You're doing great, keep it up.
